Origin

Multiple bartenders have claimed credit through the 1980s–90s, most prominently Toby Cecchini in New York — one of the more contested modern-classic origins, best treated as disputed rather than fact.

Flavour Profile

Good as an easy, not-too-sweet option for someone who thinks they don't like vodka drinks. Not for someone who wants a stirred, spirit-forward drink.

Glass & Garnish

Coupe or martini glass, chilled.

  2. Double-strain into a chilled coupe.
  3. Garnish with lime wheel or orange twist.
Stirring the Cosmopolitan

Notes

Citrus vodka gives a rounder version. Double-straining removes ice shards. Pairs well with shrimp cocktail.
