Tequila/Mezcal
Classic Frozen Margarita

The frozen drink with a documented birthday — 1971, Dallas, a repurposed soft-serve machine.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
Traces to 1971 Dallas restaurateur Mariano Martinez, who adapted a soft-serve machine into the first frozen margarita machine — genuinely well-documented, unusual for a drink this ubiquitous.
Flavour Profile
Good for a hot day when a classic Margarita feels too thin. Not for someone who wants a crisp, shaken texture.
Glass & Garnish
Margarita or rocks glass, salt rim optional.

Ingredients
- Tequila blanco2 oz
- Fresh lime juice1 oz
- Triple sec0.75 oz
- Agave syrup0.5 oz
- Ice, for blending1 cup

Method
- Blend all ingredients with 1 cup ice until smooth, 20–30 seconds.
- Pour into a salt-rimmed glass.

Notes
For a batch, scale and freeze pre-blended in a bottle — pour straight from frozen. Pairs well with Mexican food.
