Origin

The Mojito's history is genuinely contested — some accounts trace it to 16th-century privateer Francis Drake's crew, though most historians treat this as legend. Its modern form is generally placed in Havana bars in the early-to-mid 1900s, popularized further by Hemingway's association with El Floridita.

Flavour Profile

Good for a hot afternoon, or anyone who wants a cocktail that feels like a garden more than a bar. Not for someone who wants something strong and spirit-forward.

Notes

Over-muddling turns mint bitter fast. No crushed-ice machine? Cracked cubes work. Pairs well with light seafood.
