Rum
Classic Daiquiri

Three ingredients, no garnish, nothing to hide behind — this is the one that tells you if a bar knows what it's doing.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
Generally credited to American mining engineer Jennings Cox in Cuba in the early 1900s. One of the six base cocktails recognized by the IBA, and the template every flavoured daiquiri on this site builds from.
Flavour Profile
Good for someone who wants to taste rum without anything covering it up. Not for someone who wants sweetness or fruit front and centre.
Glass & Garnish
Coupe or martini glass, chilled.

Ingredients
- Rum blanco2 oz
- Fresh lime juice0.75 oz
- Simple syrup0.5 oz

Method
- Shake all ingredients with ice 12 seconds.
- Double-strain into a chilled coupe. No garnish needed.

Notes
This is the base ratio every flavoured daiquiri here builds from. Don't substitute bottled lime — flat citrus is obvious with only three ingredients. Pairs well with ceviche.
