Tequila/Mezcal
Death Flip

Fernet's bitterness meets the Flip format's whole-egg richness — not a drink for the faint-hearted.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
A modern bar-scene build, not a historic 19th-century Flip — the name follows a drink-naming convention popular at contemporary cocktail bars, applying the classic Flip format to a Fernet-forward profile.
Flavour Profile
Good for someone who already likes Fernet-Branca's intense bitterness in a richer, silkier format. Not a session drink — genuinely intense.
Glass & Garnish
Small coupe glass.

Ingredients
- Tequila2 oz
- Fernet-Branca0.5 oz
- Simple syrup0.5 oz
- Egg1, whole

Method
- Add tequila, Fernet, syrup, egg to a shaker — no ice.
- Dry shake hard 15 seconds.
- Add ice, shake again 10 seconds.
- Double-strain into a small chilled coupe.
- Grate nutmeg on top.

Notes
Uses a whole raw egg — small salmonella risk, use pasteurized if that's a concern. Genuinely bitter and intense — warn first-time Fernet drinkers. Pairs well with rich, savoury food.
