Rum
Rum Flip

Rum's warmth, given the same rich, whole-egg treatment as the Whiskey Flip.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
Same colonial-era Flip family lineage as the Whiskey Flip — rum was one of the format's original common spirits alongside brandy and Madeira.
Flavour Profile
Good for rum's warmth in a rich, dessert-like format. Not a session drink.
Glass & Garnish
Small coupe glass.

Ingredients
- Rum2 oz
- Simple syrup0.5 oz
- Egg1, whole

Method
- Add rum, syrup, egg to a shaker — no ice.
- Dry shake hard 15 seconds.
- Add ice, shake again 10 seconds.
- Double-strain into a small chilled coupe.
- Grate nutmeg on top.

Notes
Uses a whole raw egg — small salmonella risk, use pasteurized if that's a concern. Don't skip the dry shake. Pairs well with light desserts.
