Gin
Negroni

Equal parts, one stir, entirely bitter by design — one of the most-copied drinks in the world.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
Widely credited to Count Camillo Negroni in Florence around 1919, who reportedly asked a bartender to strengthen his Americano by swapping soda for gin. Popular and frequently repeated, though — like most cocktail legends — resting on oral tradition rather than contemporary written record.
Flavour Profile
Good for a genuinely bitter, spirit-forward drink before a meal. Not for someone new to bitter aperitivo drinks.
Glass & Garnish
Rocks glass, over ice.

Ingredients
- Gin1 oz
- Campari1 oz
- Sweet vermouth1 oz

Method
- Stir all three with ice 20–30 seconds.
- Strain into a rocks glass over fresh ice.
- Express orange peel over top, drop in.

Notes
Equal parts scales or batches easily. Pairs well with olives or charcuterie.
