Gin Fizz

A Collins' shorter, foamier cousin — same bones, a proper shake, no dilution wasted.
Every recipe on Sipped Right is tested at home before it's published — not just written.
Origin
Fizzes date to the late 1800s New Orleans bar scene. The Ramos Gin Fizz (with egg white and cream) is the famous, more elaborate cousin of this simpler version.
Flavour Profile
Good as a lighter, frothier alternative to a Tom Collins. Not for someone who wants a long, sippable drink — meant to be finished quickly.
Glass & Garnish
Small fizz glass, no ice.

Ingredients
- Gin2 oz
- Fresh lemon juice0.75 oz
- Simple syrup0.75 oz
- Soda water2 oz, to top

Method
- Shake gin, lemon, syrup with ice 12–15 seconds.
- Strain into a fizz glass, no ice.
- Top with soda water.

Notes
Serve immediately. Add egg white, dry-shaken first, for a Ramos-style version (see Whiskey Sour page for raw-egg safety note). Pairs well with light salty snacks.
