Origin
Created in Washington, D.C. in the 1880s, reportedly named after lobbyist Colonel Joe Rickey, who preferred his drink without sugar — one of the more well-documented 19th-century origins.

Good for the driest, least-sweet drink on this site. Not for someone who wants any sweetness.

Highball, full of ice.

Ingredients
- Gin2 oz
- Fresh lime juice0.5 oz, squeeze half a lime, drop shell in
- Soda water~4 oz, to top

Method
- Fill highball with ice.
- Squeeze lime in, drop shell in.
- Add gin.
- Top with soda, stir once.

Notes
No sugar is the whole point. Pairs well with light, salty snacks.
